Many organisations have discovered that the real trick in training is to encourage employees to review their own needs and take some responsibility for their own development. This approach is based on a thirst for learning that can be generated through the use of personal development portfolios.
Personal development portfolios is a file(s) kept by an individual to record their achievements, training, performance reviews and training needs. They are encouraged to keep it up to date and to seek every opportunity to meet their own training needs. Through regular support from line management (during, for example, performance reviews) their aspirations are kept in line with the company's goals and plans.
We have designed various formats for personal development portfolios dependent upon the holders role, level, needs, learning style, etc. Each of our personal development portfolios contain guidance notes and forms relating to each behaviour, and competence, with illustration where appropriate, to help holders of personal development portfolios identify and gather appropriate evidence.
Any of our existing personal development portfolios could be used in your organisation or alternatively we can work with you to design and implement a customised approach for different competence sets.
